Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Before transplanting after the last frost, harden off the plants by placing them outdoors for a few hours at a time and progress to a full day. Tomatoes are a tender plant and particular about temperature. The optimal range is 55° F to 90° F, outside of that the fruit doesn't set well and the plants won't be as healthy.
