When planning an early harvest to have tender crops, sow in peat pots so as to keep roots intact when ready to transfer. Planting is 8 -12 weeks before the last frost. Snowball Cauliflower is self-blanching so no tying is necessary. It measures from 6” - 12” across. Mid spring crops can be planted to produce a harvest for summer consumption. Initial watering can contain a high phosphate fertilizer which enables the soil to properly adhere. Frequent watering every five to seven days is customary to yield good-looking heads.
Rapid and vigorous growth qualifies it as excellent for farmers’ markets and specialized growers. It’s high in Vitamin C, calcium, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, but low in calories. Planting with celery will protect against moths. The most desirable soil condition is rich in nutrients for reaping the finest quality cauliflower.
